The working groups include:
● Emergency Food Access, focused on pantries and the emergency food system in Newburgh
● Transportation, addressing transportation barriers as they relate to food access
● Growing & Preparing Food, supporting residents in accessing the skills, tools, and resources to grow and prepare their own food
● Compost, focused on diverting food waste and expanding food scraps solutions
The Compost and Emergency Food Access groups are already up and running but are still welcoming committed members to help advance their work. At the same time, we’re actively looking for participants to join and help launch the Transportation and Growing & Preparing Food working groups. Each group will bring together residents, partners, and organizations to explore challenges, identify opportunities, and move forward practical, community-driven projects.
Our next Compost Working Group meeting will be held on Tuesday March 31, 2026 at 3pm at the Newburgh Free Library.
Community members with lived experience, professional expertise, or a strong interest in any of these topics are encouraged to get involved. If you’d like to learn more or are interested in joining one of the working groups, please reach out to Ilyana Campos, ilyanac@nuffi.org
