NEWS: “Urban Farm structure provides year-round growing opportunities”

NUFFI recently hosted the "Grow With Us/High Tunnel Hello" event, gathering around 50 guests, including board members, educators, local officials, and community members. The event, organized by NUFFI's Executive Director Virginia Kasinki and Board Chair Ramona Burton, featured conversations, apple cider, apples, and homemade squash soup in the high tunnel, with tours of the farm offered to visitors. Christine Hutchinson, Executive Director & Chair of Our Core, emphasized the need for expanding growing spaces, and Councilman At-Large Anthony Grice acknowledged the Urban Farm as a valuable resource. NUFFI Program Director Liana Hoodes expressed gratitude for community support, highlighting the collective effort in promoting health through urban farming. Urban agriculture specialist Joseph Heller from the USDA praised initiatives like the Urban Farm for connecting people to healthy food during the pandemic. The event concluded with thanks from Board Chair Ramona Burton.
